Food Glorious Food
Janette plans to put her award winning cooking skills to great use at the pub and she’s been busy working on a new menu.
The plan is to use as many local produce suppliers as possible to ensure we keep our food miles to a minimum. We reckon we will have the best bacon butty and best sausages in Derby! Take a look at the photos for a sneak peak of our new menu better still why not pop in when the pubs open and sample it for yourself!
Fingers crossed we will be opening from 11am on the 21st June, however our full new menu will be starting on the 28th June. For the first week we will be offering just our sandwiches & Panini’s to give us the time to meet our customers and get everything up and running.

Clearing the pub
One of the first things that needed doing was clearing the pub of furniture which is no longer needed. The furniture will be put into storage and it will get used in other Everards pubs in the future.
We’ve found the perfect licensees for the Five Lamps all we need to do now is provide a perfect pub, time to call in The ‘E’ Team ( basically the buiders, designers, electricians and carpenters).

The Plan:
The pub will close at the start of May for about 5 weeks with the intention to open at the start of June
Graham and Janette are busy working with the Everards design team to bring an authentic, cosy yet homely feel to the Five Lamps.
The plan is to replace everything from light fittings to furniture to create a relaxing feel to the pub.
Food: Janette will be bringing her award winning cooking skils to the pub and introducing a new food menu with locally sourced ingredients.
Beer: Graham being the passionate cask ale enthusiast which he is, will be looking to bring a wide selection of local and national beers to the Five Lamps.
We’re really happy to be able to share some great news, we’ve found the perfect licensees to run the Five Lamps! Graham and Janette Browett are local to to Derby and currently run a pub in Crich but will be bringing their award winning talent to the Five Lamps.
Graham comes from an Army background where he served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers up until 1994 and his wife Janette, has worked for a number of years in the retail industry. Both Graham and Janette bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience with Graham being a cask ale enthusiast and Janette an award winning chef ( she won the Derbyshire Food & Drink award in 2009).
Before we decided to do anything at the Five Lamps we knew that our priority was to ensure we found the right licensee, someone who could be a great match for the pub and the area.
We decided that it was important to find someone local to Derby who knows the City and what the residents near Duffield Road needed from their local pub. Here’s the ad which featured in the Derby Evening Telegraph which helped us find our new licensees:

We plan to regularly update this blog with the latest news, photo’s and videos detailing the exciting plans which we have for the Five Lamps so be sure to check back soon!
We’re currently busy refurbishing The Five Lamps, Derby. The pub will be open in June this year and over the next few months we’ll be updating this blog regularly with the latest photos and news showing how we’re getting on.
